There was drama today at AIC Kitui Township when panicked Governor Charity Kaluki Ngilu extended an olive branch to Kenya’s High Commissioner to Uganda Kiema Kilonzo seeking a ceasefire.

But Ambassador Kilonzo turned down the ‘Handshake’ offer from Ngilu saying there is no existence of any differences between the two that needs to be resolved.

Kilonzo instead told off Ngilu to her face and asked her to first address the grievances of Kitui residents after squandering their coffers through systemic corruption.

” I have no handshake to shake with Governor Ngilu because she has not offended me, but the people of Kitui. She should tell them where money earmarked for development has gone to. Tell them why you have misappropriated their money”, said Kilonzo to the applause of worshipers who had attended the official opening of a new building at the Church.

The Ambassador has caused a storm in the County of Kitui following reports that he will face Ngilu for the gubernatorial seat in 2022.

Tension started building up when Ambassador Kilonzo joined the service as well as Kitui Senator Enock Kiio Wambua who has constantly put the governor on the spot over graft.

Ambassador Kilonzo promised Senator Kiio of his full support as he undertakes his oversight role on transparency and accountability in county administration.
