Governors and County Assemblies met in Kisumu over the weekend for an interactive session to mitigate the establishment of the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB).
The meeting at Simba Club, Kisumu County chaired by the bloc’s Chairman Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya was hosted by his Kisumu counterpart Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o.
Other County’s Leadership present include Bomet Governor and Deputy Chairperson LREB H.E Joyce Laboso, Siaya Gov. Cornel Rasanga, Busia Gov. Sospeter Ojaamong’, Vihiga Gov. Wilber Ottichilo, Deputy Governors Joash Maangi from Kisii, Dr. James Okumbe from Siaya , Tarus from Trans Nzoia and Dr. Orata from Homa Bay county.
The meeting agenda included; The status of the regional bloc, The Regional Bank and the draft LREB Bill, 2018.
Meeting resolved to give county assemblies six weeks to look at the LREB Bill that will anchor the bloc activities in law.
The bloc has planned an investment and blue economy conference to be held at the Bomet Stadium from the 22nd – 26th October 2018 in Bomet County.
H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta will officially open the conference.
