Kitui Central Member of Parliament Dr. Makali Mulu has decried on the rising cases of pregnancies among teenage girls in both Primary and Secondary schools in Kitui County especially when pupils and students are on long vacation.
He cited that in 2018 alone, 113 girls were impregnated with some giving birth during KCPE and KCSE exams period!
Mr Mulu has urged parents and guardians to be on the look and make sure that an appropriate cancelling is done to hinder girls from bad morals like early pregnancies.
The legislator spoke on Saturday during the laying to rest of the late Elijah Muindi, first Kitui Municipal Council Mayor who served as a Councillor for three consecutive terms.
The send off ceremony was attended by Kitui County CEC for Tourism, Sports and Culture Koki Musau Kuvasila, Speaker George Ndotto, former Kitui East MP Marcus Muluvi, former Mayors and several MCAs among others.
